The Swansea City man would be a useful addition to the Newcastle United squad.
Magpies boss Rafa Benitez will be determined to bolster his ranks this summer, ahead of what will surely be an extremely challenging Premier League campaign for his squad.
One area where the Spaniard will undoubtedly want to strengthen is in the wide attacking areas, and he has been linked with a move for Swansea City winger Jefferson Montero, with the Sun reporting that Newcastle are willing to spend around £4 million on the Ecuadorian.

And if Rafa manages to bring the 27-year-old to St James’ Park, it could turn out to be a superb signing for the Toon.
The Swans winger possesses pace in abundance, and his direct playing style would undoubtedly add a certain level of urgency to the Magpies’ attacking play.
Despite enduring a poor campaign with the Welsh outfit last term, Montero still has a lot to offer at the highest level, and given the opportunity of regular first-team action under Benitez, he could very well flourish, and realise his true potential.
The pacey winger’s arrival on Tyneside would also provide fantastic competition for the likes of Matt Ritchie and Christian Atsu in the wide attacking areas, and would surely help raise the level of their performances.
Whether Paul Clement would be tempted to sell for the £4 million being quoted by the Sun remains to be seen, but if Benitez manages to get a deal over the line for the Ecuador international, it could turn out to be a great bit of business for Newcastle.
