It has been reported that Newcastle would have the funds to pay for the transfer fee of Milik once the proposed takeover by Saudi Arabia’s PIF goes through.
The report has added that Napoli want €50 million (£44.58 million) as transfer fee for the Poland international, with Italian giants Juventus interested in the 26-year-old striker.
Stats
According to WhoScored, Milik has made 14 starts and two substitute appearances in Serie A for Napoli so far this season, scoring nine goals in the process.
The striker has also made two starts and two substitute appearances in the Champions League for the Italian club this campaign, scoring three goals in the process, according to WhoScored.
Need for a striker
Newcastle desperately need a new striker in the summer transfer window if they are to challenge for the European places next season.
Joelinton has scored just one goal in 29 Premier League matches so far this campaign, according to WhoScored, and it would be quite a risk for the Magpies to rely on him to bang in the goals during the 2020-21 campaign.
Rated highly by Carlo Ancelotti
Carlo Ancelotti worked with Milik at Napoli, and the Everton manager spoke highly of him in July 2019, saying that he is more complete than 25-year-old Paris Saint-Germain striker Mauro Icardi.
Calciomercato.com quoted Ancelotti as saying, as translated by Goal.com: “Icardi is a great striker like Milik. The Pole, however, is more complete, even if the Argentine scores more in the box.”
