Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United want to sign West Ham United defensive midfielder Declan Rice, a player Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, Graham Potter’s Chelsea and Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United also want in the summer of 2023, according to The Sun.
The report has claimed that Newcastle, Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea all are ‘queueing’ up for West Ham and England international star Rice, who can also operate as a defender.
The Sun have added that Chelsea could break the bank for the Englishman in the summer of 2023.
According to GiveMeSport,West Ham want £75 million in transfer fees for Rice, described as “perfect” by former Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy on talkSPORT in January 2023.
The Guardian have claimed that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is ‘a huge fan’ of the 24-year-old, and believes that the Rice ‘would provide elite competition for Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey’.

Could Newcastle sign Declan Rice from West Ham?
In our view, Newcastle United will not be able to sign Declan Rice from Premier League rivals West Ham United in the summer of 2023.
Just look at the clubs that have been linked with the Englishman.
Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City are Premier League heavyweights.
Yes, Newcastle could end up in the Premier League top four this season, but PIF are just starting out on their grand project.
We think that Rice would be more willing to join a club like Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United or Manchester City who are already winning big trophies now or are ready to challenge to do so right now.
