Newcastle United look like getting Miguel Almiron.

It’s taken quite a few weeks, but it looks like Newcastle United could be finally getting Miguel Almiron.
According to Sky Sports News, Atlanta United playmaker Almiron is set to join Newcastle for a club-record £20 million fee after travelling to England for a medical last night.
The 24-year-old, who has 12 caps for Paraguay, is yet to agree personal terms it seems, but at this stage it would be a major shock if the Magpies didn’t complete the transfer – especially after what the South American star posted on Instagram.
Almiron bid farewell to his team-mates at the MLS side on Tuesday evening and it seems relatively certain that he’s headed for St James’s Park.
If he joins tonight then it could cap a phenomenal 24 hours for Newcastle, who beat Premier League champions Manchester City 2-1 on Tyneside last night.
Matt Ritchie converted an 80th-minute penalty as Rafael Benitez’s side came from behind to beat the Citizens.
United are still in a relegation battle, but the collective morale from beating City, signing Almiron and potentially keeping Benitez – whose fate hinged on how much Mike Ashley backed him this month – could transform the club.
