Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are in talks with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal over the signing of Ainsley Maitland-Niles in the final days of the summer transfer window, according to 90min.
90min have reported this afternoon that Newcastle have opened discussions with Premier League rivals Arsenal over signing Maitland-Niles on a loan deal.
The Magpies reportedly want a player who can operate at right-back due to the ACL injury suffered by Emil Krafth.
Maitland-Niles can play in midfielder or as a full-back.
Southampton and Bournemouth are also interested in Maitland-Niles, according to 90min.

Could Newcastle United sign Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Arsenal?
In our opinion, Newcastle United could be able to sign Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Arsenal in the summer transfer window, although they might have to make it a permanent deal or pay a sizeable loan deal.
The Magpies could even have to pay the 25-year-old’s £52,000–a-week wages (Spotrac) in full to make a deal happen.
Arsenal want to sell the Englishman and are looking for £15 million in transfer fees, according to The Times last week.
It was also The Times who claimed earlier this month Arsenal Technical Director Edu is determined to get rid of Maitland-Niles.
So, it appears Arsenal are open to offloading Maitland-Niles; it’s whether Newcastle can come up with a deal that will make the Gunners do business with them.
