Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United have now joined the race for West Ham United target and Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, according to The Daily Mail.
The report has claimed that Newcastle have now stepped in to express an interest in signing Areola from PSG in the summer transfer window.
West Ham had been in talks with PSG over making the goalkeeper’s loan deal permanent for £7.6 million.
However, talks between the Hammers and PSG have stalled, and Newcastle have shown interest in the 29-year-old goalkeeper.
The report has added that West Ham believe that the France international goalkeeper would prefer to stay in London.

Newcastle United threat to West Ham United for Alphonse Areola
In our view, Newcastle United are a genuine threat to West Ham United for Alphonse Areola.
Yes, Areola spent the past season on loan at the Hammers, but the 29-year-old could make only one appearance in the Premier League.
Having noted that, you have to mention that the Frenchman also played 11 times in the Europa League, thrice in the League Cup, and three games in the FA Cup as well for the Hammers.
Newcastle are a big club who now have wealthy owners, and if the Magpies are willing to make the £138,000-a-week (SalarySport) goalkeeper the number one between the posts, then they could get him.
