According to The Daily Mail, Newcastle United are interested in signing Ben Godfrey from Norwich City in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that Godfrey – who can operate as a central midfielder or as a central defender – is among a number of player Newcastle have discussed about potentially signing this summer.

Stats

Godfrey has made 25 appearances in the Premier League for Norwich so far this season, all as a centre-back, according to WhoScored.

During the 2018-19 campaign, the 22-year-old made 25 starts and five substitute appearances in the Championship for the Canaries, scoring four goals and providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

Good signing for Newcastle United?

Godfrey is a very talented and promising young central defender who has been a success in the Premier League.

With Norwich likely to get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season, the Canaries may be willing to sell the youngster, who would be a smart signing for the Magpies, not just for now, but in the long run as well.

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand rates Godfrey highly and named him as a player to watch.
