Andy Carroll could potentially be making a return to Newcastle United this summer.

There are certain rumours that are inevitable to pop up when the transfer window opens and Newcastle being linked with Andy Carroll is definitely one of them.
The 30-year-old is currently a free agent, and with Newcastle in the mess they currently find themselves in, Carroll has been touted to go back to where it all started for him as a youngster.
The Chronicle are reporting that Steve Bruce is keen on bringing Carroll into the St James’ Park fold, but it is dependant on the injury-prone hitman proving his fitness.
Given Carroll’s current status, his recent struggles at West Ham, should Newcastle be going in for him? The answer would be no, but when it comes to Newcastle there is always a ‘but’.
Mike Ashley hasn’t exactly won over the supporters with what has happened, especially since the end of the previous campaign – from allowing Rafa Benitez to run down his contract to selling Ayoze Perez.
But Newcastle aren’t exactly going to show ambition in the transfer market with Ashley around, and with Bruce as their manager, whether fans like his appointment or not, they need a player that can suit his style of play.

Added with that, there is a desperate need for them to bring in attacking reinforcements, especially after the departures of Solomon Rondon and Ayoze Perez.
So, bringing in Carroll in a potential pay-as-you-play deal can only result in Newcastle gaining from the situation. If he provides the smallest of positives for the club, in their current environment, it would mean a lot more.
Carroll doesn’t need to come in and score bundles of goals, he would need to stay fit, help those around him and score enough goals to bring some positivity into Newcastle’s season. His potential signing may surprise those that think it won’t work out.
