Newcastle United are being linked with Real Betis star Junior Firpo.

According to ABC de Sevilla, Newcastle United have been scouting Real Betis left back Junior Firpo, even though he has a €50million (£45million) release clause in his deal.
Firpo, 22, only made his Betis debut earlier this year, but has quickly become one of the top young stars in Spanish football, even switching his national allegiance from the Dominican Republic to Spain.
The pacey left back has starred with his attacking play, and looks set to become a star of the future as a modern, forward-thinking left back, and Premier League teams are already keen.
Newcastle are now the latest team to scout Firpo, and it’s no surprise that Rafael Benitez is well aware of one of La Liga’s top young talents – but currently, the Magpies have no chance of a deal.
Spanish clubs tend to stick to release clauses rather than negotiating exits, and that £45million clause is around three times what Newcastle’s current transfer record.

There is frankly more chance of plaiting fog than Mike Ashley paying up £45million for anybody, never mind a young left back just making his name in Spain.
Ashley did suggest yesterday that a takeover could go through, and if that’s the case, then Firpo would be the dream signing for Benitez, landing Newcastle’s left back for the future with a major statement of intent in a problem position for the Magpies – but there is currently no chance of a move.
