Newcastle fans have not exactly witnessed many young talents break into the first-team across recent years, but they have a potential superstar in Garang Kuol.

The 18-year-old was signed in a £300,000 deal from Central Coast Mariners back in January, with many expecting him to become an important player at Newcastle within a few years.

Under Mike Ashley’s reign, there was no focus whatsoever on signing talents like Kuol or bringing any of Tyneside’s finest through the youth ranks at St James’ Park.

That is no longer the case at Newcastle, and Kuol has now been recognised as one of the best prospects on the planet.

What’s the story?

Well, the Australia international has now been included in Goal‘s prestigious NXGN list.

Kuol finds himself among the likes of Gavi, Endrick, Romeo Lavia and Rico Lewis as the best wonderkids in football right now are compiled into a list of 50 by Goal.

The Newcastle prodigy – who was called a “special talent” by Nick Montgomery, his manager at Central Coast Mariners – is described as a potential star of the future by Goal.

Goal also mention that Newcastle managed to fend off interest from Barcelona, Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund when signing him from Central Coast Mariners.

Newcastle must encourage Kuol

Kuol was loaned to Hearts shortly after joining Newcastle in January, where he is currently without a goal or assist in seven Scottish Premiership appearances.

Of course, that is not an issue, seeing as he is still just a teenager who has recently uprooted his whole life, and deserves time to settle.

However, Kuol himself may be growing disheartened at his lack of goal involvements, so if they aren’t already, Newcastle must make sure to stay in close contact with him and offer plenty of encouragement.

Regardless of how he performs for Hearts, there is no denying that Newcastle have a gem on their hands.
