One of the most impressive aspects about Newcastle United’s rise since their takeover has been their impeccable recruitment.
The Magpies initially made some extremely astute signing in the January transfer window, bringing in top additions such as Bruno Guimares, Kieran Trippier and Dan Burn as the biggest standouts.
In the summer, the club from the North East of England prioritised sheer quality once again, signing the likes of Alexander Isak, Sven Botman and Nick Pope to name a few, while completing a deal for Matt Targett on a permanent basis.
The club’s enviable eye for talent, couple with Eddie Howe’s brilliant coaching, that has significantly improved players such as Joelinton and Miguel Alimron in particular has made Newcastle a force to be reckoned with.
As a result, Newcastle are reaping the rewards for their astute work behind-the-scenes, as they are currently sitting pretty in 4th place in the Premier League.

With both fans and pundits taking notice of the potential superclub’s progress, Jamie O’Hara has gone as far as to say that they have a better starting XI than Tottenham Hotspur’s currently.
“I look at their (Newcastle United) side: Joelinton, Callum Wilson, (Allan) Saint-Maximin, Bruno Guimares; they have a better team than Tottenham. If you look at their XI, apart from (Harry) Kane and Son (Heung-min), I’d rather have Newcastle’s team”, he said on talkSPORT, as relayed by the Chronicle Live.
Considering Spurs qualified for the Round of 16 in the Champions League on Tuesday night, O’Hara’s statement will certainly divide opinion.
However, the fact that a self-admitted Tottenham fan and ex-player can admit that Newcastle have a better starting lineup than them is testament to the spectacular work that is being done at the club.
The way Newcastle United are operating, them having superior sides than most of the top dogs in the Premier League will become standard procedure one day.
