Newcastle United face the daunting prospect of a trip to Liverpool in the Premier League tomorrow.

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez addressed the media today during his pre-match press conference, ahead of his side’s trip to Liverpool tomorrow, and provided a positive injury update on Dwight Gayle and Matt Ritchie, as quoted by the Shields Gazette.

The Magpies currently sit in 15th position in the Premier League table, two points clear of the relegation zone, and the last game they would have wanted is a clash with Jürgen Klopp’s red hot Liverpool side.

The Merseyside outfit are one of the best attacking teams in Europe, and the Toon will have to be at their very best in every single department tomorrow, if they are to have any chance of returning to Tyneside with anything to show for their efforts.

Benitez did at least have some good news for Newcastle fans, ahead of their trip to Anfield tomorrow, as quoted by the Shields Gazette:

Dwight Gayle of Newcastle United during the Premier League match between AFC Bournemouth and Newcastle United at Vitality Stadium on February 24, 2018 in Bournemouth, England.

“Dwight’s fine and (Matt) Ritchie’s fine,” said Benitez. “They had little problems but they’re OK.”

Despite the good news concerning Ritchie and Gayle, Jonjo Shelvey has been ruled out, so Benitez will have to reshuffle his midfield ranks against Liverpool tomorrow.

The Magpies can climb as high as 11th with a win against Klopp’s men, but they would surely settle for a point, if it was offered to them now.
