According to the Chronicle, Newcastle United have been offered a chance to sign Jeff Hendrick following his departure from Burnley.
The experienced Irishman has played over 100 games in the Premier League and he would be an attractive option for multiple clubs in this summer’s transfer window.
Burnley and Hendrick failed to agree on a new contract and the 28-year-old is now a free agent. The midfielder’s representatives have offered him to Aston Villa and AC Milan along with Newcastle who are keen themselves.
The Magpies currently have Jonjo Shelvey, Isaac Hayden and Sean Longstaff in the centre of their park. Matty Longstaff’s future is up in the air while Nabil Bentaleb has returned to Schalke after the end of his loan spell.
Newcastle need more squad depth in midfield and Hendrick could be a brilliant option. The 28-year-old has played over 400 times for club and country over the years and he would bring in a lot more to the squad than just his quality.
Hendrick is hugely versatile. The Irishman is capable of playing anywhere across central midfield as well as out wide. Him coming in as a free agent is a massive bonus considering that the Magpies might have to look for bargain deals after their takeover fell through.

The former Burnley man is by no means a signing that would bring Magpies fans to their feet. However, his quality on the ball, versatility in midfield and experience in the Premier League are all massive positives for Newcastle if they choose to sign him this summer.
Some supporters see why signing Hendrick would be a very smart move by Steve Bruce.
