Newcastle United appear to be closing in on Stanley Nsoki.

Newcastle United’s recruitment drive has taken a while to get going, but they now appear to be making moves to bolster Steve Bruce’s squad.

The Magpies have landed striker Joelinton in a club-record deal from Hoffenheim, and more signings are in the pipeline ahead of the new season.

A left back is needed in order to offer competition for Paul Dummett, and it now seems that Newcastle are closing in on a deal for a new signing there.

RMC Sport in France report that Newcastle have agreed a deal of around £10million for Paris Saint-Germain left back Stanley Nsoki, and his move is close.

The 20-year-old is expected to join imminently, leaving PSG after winning two league titles in search of first-team football having played just 15 times last season.

Nsoki should be a promising addition at left back, but it’s not all good news. RMC’s report notes that it may not be the only deal discussed, as PSG want to sign Newcastle’s star goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

The 30-year-old has starred for Newcastle over the last 18 months, and fans have taken to Twitter to suggest that it would be just like Mike Ashley to sell a key player so close to the start of the season.

Some even want a deal for Nsoki cancelled if it involves Dubravka heading the other way, feeling that Dubravka is more important than Nsoki ever could be, and worth far more than Nsoki is right now.

Others are encouraged by Nsoki, feeling that he completes the Newcastle defence, but the lingering fears that Dubravka will leave are noticeable.
