Kieran Trippier has taken to life at Newcastle like a duck to water.
The right-back is basically an honorary Geordie at this point. He’s an absolute fan favourite at St James’ Park, and he’s fully immersed himself to life in the city.
However, there is one aspect of life in the Toon that Trippier hasn’t embraced yet, and that’s the local tipple.
When you think of Newcastle you think of a few things, and one of those is Newcastle Brown Ale.
The legendary drink is synonymous with both the city and the football club, but, for one reason or another, Trippier hasn’t tried the ale yet – although he has suggested that he may well have some if the Magpies get into the Champions League this year.

Trippier has never tried it
The defender was reviewing the old Newcastle kits and the former shirt sponsor.
“The thing that is great about the city is that when you arrive into the city you can see the stadium there. It’s powerful, it’s there for everyone to see. I have never tasted the beer yet I don’t think. Not yet, no, Newcastle fans won’t be happy with that,” Trippier said on Goal’s YouTube channel.
“If you get into the Champions League, have one, have a Brown Ale,” The host suggested.
“Who knows? I don’t want to jump the gun too soon, we take it game by game,” Trippier concluded.
Perfect way to celebrate
If Newcastle manage to get into the top four this season, a few bottles of Newcastle Brown would be the perfect way for Trippier and his teammates to celebrate.
The Magpies may have a multi-national squad, but, somehow, each and every player feels like they’re so personally connected to the club and the city already, and what better way to cement that bond than to celebrate with the Tyneside’s most iconic drink.
Of course, as Trippier says, there’s a long way to go, but if the Magpies keep on winning, Eddie Howe may have to get the fridge stocked up with a few beers.
