Fulham have been relegated from the Premier League – and Newcastle United fans are loving it.

Newcastle United fans on Twitter are trolling Fulham following their relegation to the Championship.

The Cottagers’ 4-1 defeat at Watford on Tuesday confirmed their return to the second tier of English football next season.

Newcastle fans aren’t ones to mock a team’s demotion from the Premier League, having experienced the heartbreak themselves back in 2016.

But there are perhaps justifiable circumstances for the Magpies faithful.

United lost 1-0 to the West London side in the opening game of the second tier during the 2016-17 season, with Fulham sending them a tweet saying ‘Welcome to the Championship’.

And some fans of the St James’s Park club haven’t forgotten that jibe. Here is how some Newcastle supporters reacted to their defeat at Vicarage Road last night.

Rafael Benitez’s side are seven points clear of danger and at this stage it’ll be a miracle if Newcastle go down.

It certainly looks like the Spanish magician has done it again, keeping the Magpies in the Premier League but, with his contract expiring this summer, it remains to be seen whether owner Mike Ashley can tie him down to a new deal.
