Newcastle United drew 0-0 at home to Brighton and Hove Albion last night.

Newcastle United are still waiting for their first home win of the new season after drawing 0-0 with Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday evening.
Even this early into the season, this was a game billed as a six-pointer between two sides whose first goal will be to achieve Premier League survival.
Brighton carved out some fine openings in the first half, but it was arguably Newcastle who created the best two chances, with Miguel Almiron and Joelinton squandered.
It was ultimately a game low on quality, outside of Fabian Schar producing a remarkable, acrobatic clearance to deny Aaron Connolly from opening the scoring.
Steve Bruce has plenty to think about after such a lacklustre showing, and his Newcastle side have now taken just two points from their first three home games this season.
Some players may be fearing for their positions in the team, especially the likes of Christian Atsu and Almiron, who saw substitute Allan Saint-Maximin impress in a cameo appearance.

The 22-year-old Frenchman, who joined from Nice this summer, has been struggling for fitness in recent weeks, but showed his quality with an exciting display, driving at the Brighton defence to create late mayhem.
Fans have been hugely impressed by Saint-Maximin, and believe he now needs to start, possibly at Almiron’s expense having shown that he’s ‘clearly a class above’ the Paraguayan, with many suggesting that he has already contributed more than Almiron in such a brief display.
