Newcastle United fans are destroying Everton’s Jordan Pickford, due to his mistake and Sunderland history.

To say that Newcastle United fans are taking pleasure in Jordan Pickford’s misfortune might be an understatement.
The Everton goalkeeper, who joined the Toffees from Newcastle’s bitter North-East rivals Sunderland, had a nightmare at Anfield on Sunday night.
Pickford, also born and bred in Sunderland, was largely to blame as Liverpool snatched a last-gasp 1-0 win over Everton in the Merseyside derby.
The 24-year-old unnecessarily saved a shot that was heading over the bar, before Divock Origi headed into an empty net from a matter of yards.
It was a shocker for the Everton star and here’s some of the more family-friendly tweets that Newcastle fans sent in the aftermath of it.
Pickford has the perfect chance to silence Newcastle supporters on Wednesday when Rafael Benitez’s side visit Everton.
Question is, will tonight’s error have a knock-on effect with regards to his confidence? It was a massive game, so the Sunderland youth must be feeling terrible right about now and it takes a tremendous amount of mental strength to move on from such a calamity so soon after it happened.
He remains a brilliant goalkeeper but, as we’ve seen with Loris Karius, one mistake can have a devastating effect on confidence and time will tell if the youngster can bounce back.
