Newcastle United bounced back from a 2-1 home defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers by beating Huddersfield Town 1-0 on Saturday.

The Magpies were left fuming after that controversial defeat to Wolves, and knew that the trip to Huddersfield would be key as the two teams scrap for points.

It was Newcastle who came away with all three points, as Javi Manquillo crossed for Salomon Rondon to tuck home the winner in the second half.

Newcastle stood firm and kept another away clean sheet, their fourth of the season as Rafael Benitez’s men picked up a vital three points.

A number of players stepped up to help claim the win for Benitez’s side, and one player Newcastle fans couldn’t have expected to impress was full back Manquillo.

The Spanish full back has struggled to impress since joining in 2017, but has been pressed into action with DeAndre Yedlin suspended after his red card against Wolves.

However, he not only teed up Rondon for the winner but also impressed defensively, leaving many surprised Newcastle fans to admit that he was ‘class’ and ‘excellent’ on Saturday afternoon, with fans hoping he can continue that form going forward.
