A number of Newcastle United fans were not happy with Christian Atsu’s display in their goalless draw on Saturday.

Newcastle supporters have taken to Twitter to criticise Christian Atsu’s display during the Magpies’ goalless draw with Fulham on Saturday, with many imploring Rafa Benitez to not start the winger in future.
Newcastle are now unbeaten in their last two, taking four points from those games. But unfortunately, they have not exactly captured the imagination with their performances in those two fixtures.
And while several players left the fans feeling underwhelmed with their performances in the stalemate at St James’ Park this weekend, it seems that Atsu may be one of the most heavily criticised.
Interestingly, the wide-man actually came out of the game with some impressive stats. Whoscored shows that he made four successful tackles – no player on the pitch managed more – and boasted the joint-highest pass completion rate on the pitch from those who started the game.

Nevertheless, plenty of the Toon Army clearly feel that he does not ask enough questions of the opposition full-backs given what his role in the team is.
In fact, many supporters were disappointed that he spent as long on the pitch as he did, only coming off with 18 minutes to go to replaced by Kenedy.
