Reading were fined £5000 by the FA for failing to control their players following Newcastle forward Dwight Gayle’s handball.

Reading have been charged by the FA for failing to control their players during the 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United at St. James’ Park last month.
The event in question was prompted by Magpies’ striker Dwight Gayle as he punched the ball into the back of the net during the early stages of the match.
Initially the goal seemed to be given as Gayle wheeled off in celebration but the forceful protests from the Royals’ players seemed to convince the officials otherwise as the goal was rightly disallowed and Gayle was handed a yellow card as a result.

The Newcastle frontman also went on to bag two goals as the home side strolled to a 4-1 victory, but now the main talking point seems to be the Royals’ actions during the opening minutes of the match.
Referee Andy Madley was surrounded by Reading players as their warranted protests were deemed to have not been conducted in an orderly fashion as they have now been charged £5000.
