Newcastle United supporters could not hide their delight after watching Federico Fernandez’s display.
A number of Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to respond to Federico Fernandez’s tweet commenting on the Magpies’ goalless draw with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
Rafa Benitez’s men picked up only their second point of the campaign against the Eagles, with the home side having most of the better chances and Newcastle struggling to test Wayne Hennessey at the other end of the field.
While it may have been another frustrating afternoon for Benitez’s men, there were some positives to take from the game. Martin Dubravka was fantastic in goal and reminded the supporters why he may just be one of the club’s best bargain signings in a long time.
But perhaps Fernandez could go on and rival him for that title. The former Swansea City ace was superb against Palace, making a number of challenges and clearances to help keep Roy Hodgson’s men quiet.
After the game, Fernandez took to social media to comment on Newcastle earning a point. And his tweet was met with a large number of positive responses from the Toon Army.
‘Unreal’ was one adjective that commonly cropped up to describe the centre-back’s performance, while many suggested that he deserved the man of the match award ahead of his teammate.
