Richard Keys has enraged a sizeable proportion of the Newcastle United fanbase – as well as some neutrals – following his Twitter dig towards manager Rafael Benitez.

According to the beIN anchor, the Magpies have spent around £145million in the last three years, whereas in the same period, Tottenham Hotspur have spent £179million.

Newcastle are currently 14th in the Premier League table, five points above the relegation zone, while Spurs are third in the standings, seven points adrift of leaders Liverpool.

And then there’s the overall net spend, which saw the Magpies recoup money from outbound transfers… basically, it’s like comparing apples and oranges.
