Newcastle United have reportedly bid for Thomas Strakosha.

Newcastle United fans aren’t buying a rumour about Thomas Strakosha.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Magpies, who have no manager, have bid for the Lazio goalkeeper.

The Greek star is valued at an eye-watering £44 million and by virtue of the fact that Newcastle aren’t known for spending that sort of money, supporters of the Tyneside club aren’t believing it.

Here’s how they reacted to the reported bid:

Newcastle fans are right. This is a prime example as to why the summer transfer window is often referred to as ‘silly season’.

How would a club with no manager, a club with an owner notoriously frugal as Mike Ashley, come up with such a monstrous bid for a player they don’t even need?

It makes zero sense and therefore you can understand the supporters’ cynicism here.

Martin Dubravka had an excellent first full season at St James’s Park and if – and it’s a massive IF – United spend that much on any one player this summer, it won’t be a keeper.
