Newcastle United added a new striker on Monday, completing the signing of Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson.

Joelinton struggled in his first season at St James’ Park with just two league goals, and it’s clear that he needed to have some pressure taken off him.

Dwight Gayle is out injured, Yoshinori Muto could leave and Andy Carroll isn’t exactly reliable in terms of injuries, so at least one new striker was vital.

Could there yet be another one though? The Telegraph reported on Saturday that Steve Bruce wanted to get a young striker in on loan whilst also signing Wilson.

Rhian Brewster of Liverpool was one name mentioned, whilst Newcastle would allegedly be keen to take Eddie Nketiah on loan from Arsenal if they make him available.

The 21-year-old scored three goals in 17 league games on loan at Leeds United last season, though only two of those appearances came as a starter.

Mikel Arteta gave him a chance in the Arsenal first team in the second half of last season, and he scored twice in 13 league games.

Nketiah is a real poacher and far from the finished article as a striker, yet it’s hard to see Arsenal loaning him out given questions marks over Alexandre Lacazette’s future.

Still, Newcastle fans have been discussing the rumour, with a number of supporters suggesting that the move would be ‘brilliant’, ‘fantastic’ and ‘great’, with one fan comparing him to Ian Wright – though one doesn’t think Nketiah is good enough having failed to supplant Patrick Bamford at Leeds United last season.
