Newcastle United secured a vital 1-0 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend, courtesy of a 44th-minute strike from Serbia international Aleksandar Mitrovic.
The Magpies will know they cannot afford too many slip-ups in the weeks ahead, with a top-two finish not yet guaranteed, so the win against Wolves could prove very important come the end of the campaign.
Wolves played well, dominating possession and having more chances, but they were left to rue one moment that ultimately settled the game.
While Mitrovic can be proud to have got the winning goal, some of Newcastle’s players failed to replicate their best form and will need to do a lot better in the weeks and months ahead.
One of those players was Mo Diame who, not for the first time since his move to St. James’ Park, flattered to deceive.
