Newcastle United finished their campaign with an impressive 3-1 win over Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, ensuring that they ended the season in the top half of the table.

The Magpies had lost four games in a row before Sunday’s game against the Blues, but they turned in a superb performance against Chelsea.

Dwight Gayle put Newcastle in front in the first half, before Ayoze Perez scored twice in the second period to hand the Magpies a thumping 3-0 win.

Newcastle end their first season back in the Premier League with a 10th place finish, and manager Rafael Benitez will be looking to strengthen his squad if he stays in the job this summer.

Whilst new faces will be wanted by fans, one of the most important deals will be for goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, who played the final game of his loan spell from Sparta Prague on Sunday.

The Slovakian international has impressed since arriving at St. James’ Park, and he turned in a superb display against Chelsea, making a fine double save from Ross Barkley and Olivier Giroud.

Newcastle fans took to Twitter on Sunday to hail Dubravka, suggesting that he is the best goalkeeper they have seen in action for the Magpies and must be a priority this summer, with one fan claiming that he is worth £90million if Stoke City’s Jack Butland is worth £35million.
