A number of Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the reports coming out of the Daily Star over the weekend which have suggested that Rafa Benitez is a target for Leicester City ahead of the summer.

The Star reports that there have been rumours of dressing room unrest at the King Power Stadium and that has led to speculation surrounding the future of current boss Claude Puel.

Meanwhile, one place lower in the Premier League table, Benitez is earning a huge amount of plaudits for the work that he has done at St James’ Park having guided the Magpies to safety in their first season back in the top flight.

The Star reports that the Spaniard is keen to stay exactly where he is, but speculation surrounding the ownership of the club may have an impact on his summer plans. And given the frustration that he has struggled to hide during the previous windows, it would be little surprise if another difficult time in the market had Benitez considering his options.

The Star adds that Leicester may be keen to try and offer the 58-year-old a fresh challenge as they look for a manager that is going to inspire them to challenge for top six finishes each year.

While there has been some concern amongst a couple of Newcastle fans regarding Benitez’s future – largely due to Mike Ashley’s presence at the club – the majority of Magpies supporters appear to not be too concerned about the possibility of losing their manager as they are not sure that he will deem a move to the King Power Stadium as a step forward despite his potential frustrations.
