Several Newcastle United fans are confused after seeing Josh Murphy’s superb display for their Premier League rivals.

A number of Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to laud Josh Murphy after his superb display for Cardiff against Burnley, and suggest that the Magpies may have signed the wrong brother when they bought Jacob Murphy in 2017.
Life has not exactly gone to plan for Jacob Murphy since he arrived at St James’ Park. Having been one of the club’s most expensive signings since their return to the Premier League, the winger has been under a fair amount of pressure to perform.
But, Murphy has scored just one goal and only provided one assist in the top flight and is undoubtedly struggling to hold down a regular spot in Rafa Benitez’s side.
So what he probably did not need was for his twin brother to put in a superb performance in Cardiff’s latest game. Josh – who joined the Bluebirds for £11 million in the summer, according to BBC Sport – scored the newly-promoted side’s goal and tested Joe Hart with a string of fine efforts.

It was a disappointing afternoon for Neil Warnock, but signing Josh Murphy looks as if it is going to be a fantastic piece of business. And that has left several Newcastle fans suggesting on social media that the club made the wrong decision when they signed Jacob Murphy last summer.
Of course, both players are still young so there is no reason why Jacob Murphy could not prove to be a great signing for the Magpies in the future. But his twin brother has probably done him no favours with his latest display.
