Newcastle United overcame Swansea City 1-0 at the weekend.

Newcastle United continued their resurgence with a 1-0 win against Swansea City on Sunday afternoon, ensuring the Magpies have now picked up victories either side of the international break.
Rafa Benitez’s side won courtesy of a second-half goal from centre-back Jamaal Lascelles and their defence held firm to ensure a vital clean sheet and three more points to make it six from four matches.

Many of Newcastle’s previously maligned stars put in fine performances, among them Jesus Gamez, who was making his first Premier League appearance of the campaign.
The 32-year-old stepped in at left-back and he did not disappoint, playing the whole match and giving Benitez something to think about as he continues to recover from a recent operation.

The Newcastle defender has had few chances to impress thus far, featuring only nine times since he arrived at St. James’ Park. However, on Sunday’s evidence, Paul Dummett may struggle to return to the starting XI without one hell of a fight.
Next up for Newcastle is a home match against Stoke City on Saturday and the Magpies will hope to make it a hat-trick of victories.
