Newcastle United fan out comfortable 4-0 winners in their pre-season friendly clash against Lokren on Saturday.
A brace from Ayoze Perez and a goal apiece from Daryl Janmaat and Jonjo Shelvey ensured the Magpies left the field knowing it had been a job well done, even if summer signing Jesus Gamez was sent off for an altercation with Marko Miric – who also saw red – after coming off the bench for the second period.
There were other new faces on show, with Matz Sels, Dwight Gayle and Isaac Hayden all starting but it was Gamez’s fracas with an opponent that had plenty of fans talking at the final whistle.
The 31-year-old signed for Newcastle from Atletico Madrid on a two-year deal earlier this month, but Magpies manager Rafa Benitez will urge him to keep his temper under wraps in what will be a vital Championship campaign.
