Newcastle United and Liverpool played out a 1-1 draw on Sunday.
Newcastle United had summer signing Joselu to thank for their point against Liverpool on Sunday, with the Spanish striker scoring the equaliser in a 1-1 draw against a Reds side that huffed and puffed but ultimately fell short yet again.
The Magpies headed into this fixture knowing how effective Liverpool’s front line can be on its day. The issue for Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is that too often his attackers have missed easy chances to put games to bed, and so it proved again this weekend.
Not that Newcastle will be complaining, as Rafa Benitez’s side held out for a valuable point that keeps their decent start to the season going before their players head off for yet another international break.
While DeAndre Yedlin impressed on one flank, his Newcastle teammate Javier Manquillo was not a welcome name on the team sheet for a number of Magpies fans.
Thankfully for him and for them, the recent addition held his own against his former side and generated an upturn in comments after the final whistle.
