The Newcastle United right-back is a reported transfer target for Lazio.
Newcastle defender Javier Manquillo has been linked with a move to Lazio, according to Italian publication Corriere dell Sport, and some Newcastle fans took to Twitter in reaction to the speculation.
The 24-year-old joined the Magpies from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2017, for around £4.5 million, but he has struggled to establish himself at St James’ Park, making just 26 Premier League starts in the process.
The right-back is error prone, and he seems to lack any kind of positional sense.
Losing him would not be a major blow for Newcastle, especially if Rafa Benitez is allowed to use any funds from his sale to strengthen in other areas of the pitch.
Generally, most Newcastle fans are not big on Manquillo.
Should the ex-Sunderland man leave before Thursday’s transfer deadline, there will surely not be too many sad faces on Tyneside.
