Newcastle United have again been linked with a move for Fulham’s Tom Cairney.

Newcastle United won’t have much money to spend in January with no takeover going through, and that may force the Magpies to look at swap deals instead.
Rafael Benitez will have been keen to add major reinforcements to his side next month, but with Mike Ashley still in charge of the club, there will be little money to spend.
An attacking midfielder appears to be a top target, and with a move for Atlanta United’s Miguel Almiron seemingly stalling, a familiar name is being linked.
Fulham’s Tom Cairney has been touted as a Newcastle target for around two years now, and the links are now returning ahed of January.
Cairney has key to Fulham’s promotion but hasn’t impressed in the Premier League, and hasn’t exactly fit well into Claudio Ranieri’s style.
The Sun now report that Ranieri wants to swap Cairney for Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, in a move which would certainly be intriguing.

Some believe that Shelvey is overrated and a swap deal would be great, urging Newcastle to ‘do it’ and strike a swap deal with Fulham during next month’s transfer window.
Others aren’t convinced, claiming there is ‘no chance’ of a deal, feeling that Cairney hasn’t proven himself in the Premier League whereas Shelvey is a key playmaker when fit and noting that Newcastle wouldn’t really be upgrading with such a move…
