Newcastle United supporters shared their thoughts on rivals Sunderland losing in the League One play-off final.

Newcastle United fans reacted with joy on Twitter after Sunderland were beaten in the League One play-off final on Sunday afternoon at Wembley.
Jack Ross’ side took an early lead in the game, but following Charlton’s equaliser before the half time break, they grew into the game from then on and netted a last-minute winner.
It was a heartbreaking end for Sunderland, who will remain in the third tier of English football for another season as Charlton are now promoted to the Championship.
It is fair to say that the Newcastle faithful enjoyed Sunderland’s defeat, especially the manner of their loss because it was a real sucker punch towards the end.
At one point, it looked like both teams were going to head for extra-time, just like the League Two play-off final did, but just like the game on Saturday, a very late goal was scored.
Lee Bowyer’s side are now one division away from making a return to the Premier League, whilst Sunderland have a long way ago to meeting Newcastle again in a league fixture.
Here is a selection of Newcastle fans on Twitter reacting to Sunderland’s defeat:
Two seasons ago, the Black Cats were playing Premier League football, but off-field problems mixed with poor performances on the field of play, they ended up suffering back-to-back relegations.
It remains to be seen what happens to Sunderland now as the planning to try and earn promotion again next season will be a very difficult one.
Whether or not manager Jack Ross is still in the Stadium of Light dugout for next season remains to be seen, but either way, whoever is, they will have their work cut out.
