A number of Newcastle United fans are not exactly getting carried away as the Magpies reportedly chase Sebastian Haller.
It is already starting to become apparent that Newcastle may well need to pull something out of the hat in the January transfer window if they want to ensure that they remain in the Premier League.
The Northern Echo reports that Sebastien Haller may be the player that the Magpies turn to if Rafa Benitez gets his way in the winter. Unfortunately, it appears that no Newcastle fans are getting carried away with the reports at this stage.
Haller has enjoyed a remarkable start to the season with Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring six goals and providing five assists in eight Bundesliga appearances.
It is a brilliant return for the Frenchman – and that appears to be exactly why the members of the Toon Army on social media are refusing to allow themselves to believe that a deal may be possible.
Haller’s asking price is bound to have risen significantly since the start of the season. And given Newcastle’s recent track record, no one seems to believe that Benitez will have the funds to make an offer that the German outfit have any interest in.
Some are half-expecting an ambitious loan bid, while others are predicting a low seven-figure offer could be made for the 24-year-old. It certainly appears that it would shock a lot of people if Haller ended up at St James’ Park in January.
