Newcastle fans have been discussing reports that their manager has fallen out with several players.
According to Sky Sports, Steve McClaren let some of his Newcastle United squad know a few ‘home truths’ in training recently.
And the frank conversation reportedly led to a bust-up, with several players left unhappy with McClaren – especially Fabricio Coloccini.
Now, Coloccini’s form has been the subject of huge scrutiny over the past few months. In truth, though, it hasn’t been the subject of enough scrutiny. The Argentine has been simply terrible at St James’ Park for the most part and too many at Newcastle seem afraid to admit it. Most of all, McClaren.
The 33-year-old’s woeful form last season was rewarded… with a new contract over the summer. This term, meanwhile, every poor Coloccini performance has been met with bizarre praise from the Magpies boss – while his foolishness against Sunderland was swept under the carpet, with the referee blamed for sending him off rather than booking him.
But it seems McClaren is now adopting a policy of ‘better late than never’ with the Argentine – as well as the rest of the Newcastle side.
Here’s how fans have taken to the reports on Twitter. They’ve made their allegiance clear: and it seems few are on Coloccini’s side…
