Newcastle United were knocked out of the FA Cup on a very disappointing afternoon.

Several Newcastle fans have suggested that now is the time for the Magpies to terminate Kenedy’s loan at St James’ Park after his performance in the FA Cup defeat to Watford on Saturday.

Rafa Benitez’s side were knocked out of the competition after their Premier League rivals left Tyneside with a 2-0 victory thanks to two second-half goals.

It is another disappointing cup exit for Newcastle. And much of the frustration following the result seemed to be directed at Kenedy, who has struggled to recapture the form that he showed while on loan last season.

The winger – who earns £25,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – seemed to struggle to hold onto possession, and did not look like providing that spark that the Magpies were crying out for throughout the tie.

And given that he has largely not looked like the player that was so influential during the second-half of last season – with just one goal and one assist in the Premier League this season – plenty of supporters have implored Benitez to make a big decision.

If Kenedy’s loan is terminated, Newcastle can sign another Premier League player on a temporary basis. And the fans believe that that could be the smart move after his display in the FA Cup defeat.
