Newcastle United’s winning run came to an end at the weekend as they lost 2-0.

A number of Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Florian Lejeune’s display during the Magpies’ 2-0 defeat to West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday.
Rafa Benitez’s men went into the trip to the capital looking to secure a third consecutive win having beaten both Huddersfield and Burnley 2-0 in their two previous games.
But, while the scoreline would be the same as their previous two fixtures, it was the home side who came out on top as goals from Declan Rice and Mark Noble brought the Magpies back down to earth after their recent upturn in form.
Noble’s goal came after Lejeune brought Javier Hernandez down inside the box shortly before the break. And it seems that many Newcastle supporters felt that that error from the Frenchman largely summed up his evening.

Lejeune has been excellent since he returned from injury at the start of the year. But some have suggested that three games in eight days may have been too demanding for the centre-back, who was making only his ninth appearance of the season.
In fairness to the Newcastle supporters, many accept that it was a rare off-night for the defender and are being more critical of his performance rather than his quality, and it does not appear that anyone is asking for the 27-year-old to be dropped for Saturday’s clash with Everton.
