Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur looks on during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool at Wembley Stadium on October 22, 2017 in London, England.

Alan Shearer is a big fan of Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane and fears he could go on to break his Premier League scoring record.

Shearer struck 260 goals in the division through his illustrious career for Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United, and it is a feat which has not come close to being beaten.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is a long way off, he has 86 league goals so far, but at just 24-years-old, time is on his side.

Shearer voiced his fears at the weekend that Kane will go on to topple his record.

Shearer is content if he loses his record to another England international as it will bode well for the national team’s chances.

While Shearer is confident in his belief Kane can do it, fans of his former club Newcastle United are not so sure.

Newcastle supporters had their say on Kane’s chances in response to Shearer’s tweet.

As many fans noted, Kane’s chances are dependent on him staying in the Premier League and resisting moves abroad.

Rumours continue to link Kane to Real Madrid, but the Spurs striker has given no indication he desires to move on, and while Tottenham are in a position to challenge for trophies as they currently are, the fan favourite is unlikely to quit the club.
