Dwight Gayle was Newcastle United’s top goalscorer last term, but a report has suggested that his days with the club could be numbered.

Newcastle fans have been reacting to a report coming out of the Daily Mail which suggested that the Magpies are considering selling Dwight Gayle during the final days of the transfer window.
Gayle has enjoyed an excellent time since arriving at St James’ Park last summer, proving to be their top goalscorer as they secured automatic-promotion out of the Championship at the first attempt.

However, the early stages of this season have certainly not gone as well for the 26-year-old, with no goals coming in either of his first two Premier League appearances.
And he could only look on as both Aleksandar Mitrovic and Joselu got on the scoresheet in the weekend win over West Ham.

With an international break now ahead, it appears that the former Crystal Palace man may well have already played his final game for the club as the Daily Mail reported that Newcastle could consider selling him during this window to raise funds to pursue some of their remaining targets.
Interestingly, the news has received a mixed response amongst the fans, with the edge seemingly being given to the idea of cashing in on the forward during this window.
Gayle has a decent but unspectacular record in the top flight, and a large section of the supporters appear to agree with the club’s reported stance that selling him could be the best move.
However, there are also some fans who feel that Gayle’s form last season has meant that he has earned the right to prove himself at the highest level, and thus, selling him would be a mistake.
Here is the best of the reaction…
