Newcastle fans have been reacting on Twitter to Florian Lejeune’s display in their defeat to Leicester on Saturday, and it is safe to say that the supporters were not impressed by the centre-back’s performance.

Rafa Benitez’s men went into the clash off the back of a torrid run of form that had seen them lose five of their previous six games and not win in the top flight since October.

Leicester meanwhile, had won their previous two, but it appeared that the form book was about to be thrown out as Joselu gave the home side the lead after just four minutes.

The Foxes would turn the game on its head however, as goals from Riyad Mahrez and Demarai Gray saw Claude Puel’s men go 2-1 up on the hour-mark, before Dwight Gayle equalised with 17 minutes to go.

There was to be a painful sting in the tail for the Magpies unfortunately, as Ayoze Perez scored an own goal four minutes from time to give the visitors the win.

It was arguably a real mixed bag of performances from Newcastle. One of the most disappointing players on the day, and of the last few weeks, was Lejeune, and a number of Magpies supporters have asked for the £8.7 million summer signing to be dropped as soon as possible, with some even comparing him to former flop Jean-Alain Boumsong.
