Newcastle United defender Ciaran Clark is reportedly being pursued by West Bromwich Albion.

A number of Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports emerging from the Daily Mail over the weekend which have suggested that West Brom are keen on signing Ciaran Clark in January.

The Baggies are doing well in the Championship this season and will be tipped by many to secure promotion to the Premier League. But Darren Moore has one big issue to address.

West Brom have conceded 30 goals in their opening 21 games and have only managed to keep one clean sheet in the league this term. And it appears that Moore is hoping to rectify that issue with a move for Magpies defender Clark.

Clark has made nine appearances in the top flight this season. However, he would surely struggle to get into Rafa Benitez’s side if the Spaniard had all of his defensive options available – and the Mail hints that they could consider selling the £5 million signing depending on what happens over the coming weeks regarding the potential takeover at St James’ Park.

There has been a bit of a divide amongst the Newcastle supporters on social media regarding whether the club should sanction Clark’s departure.

Some feel that Clark is the kind of player that Benitez should be looking to hold onto. However, others clearly feel that selling him could be beneficial as Newcastle look to boost their transfer kitty ahead of what looks set to be a key month for the Magpies.
