According to Sky Sports, Aston Villa have had a bid rejected by Bournemouth for Callum Wilson.
The Englishman is expected to move away from the Vitality Stadium this summer after Bournemouth went down to the Championship. Wilson is a proven commodity in the Premier League and it is no surprise that he is attracting heavy interest.
The 28-year-old has played 126 games in the top flight, scoring 41 goals and providing 15 assists over the last five seasons. He scored eight goals last term in a disappointing campaign, while his best return came in the season before when he scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists in the Premier League.
The report claims that Villa tabled a bid in the region of £15 million. The Cherries have rejected the offer and they are said to be looking at a fee closer to the £20 million-mark (Guardian).
Aston Villa are not the only side interested in Wilson. The report claims that Newcastle United are also in the race to sign the striker and they could offer former Cherries star Matt Ritchie as part of the deal.
The Magpies desperately need a new striker. Joelinton has had a difficult first season in England while Dwight Gayle is expected to undergo knee surgery this week and miss the next three months as a result (the Sun).

Andy Carroll cannot be relied on due to his injury record, which makes it extremely important for Bruce to bring in a new centre-forward before the transfer window closes in October.
Villa making the first move for Wilson has worried a few Newcastle supporters.
Magpies fans have seen their club get close to signing a player before losing out at the last minute far too many times now, and some of them feel it is happening again.
