A number of Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react to comments that Joshua King made to Norwegian outlet VG where he suggested that he was unhappy with his position change at Bournemouth this past season.

The Sun reported in April that King was at the top of Rafa Benitez’s list of striker targets and a move for the £20 million-rated forward was being considered ahead of the summer.

King has enjoyed two very good seasons with the Cherries. He scored 16 goals in the Premier League last season, and followed that up with eight more this past year. And he seems to have managed that form during the most recent campaign despite being unhappy with how he is being used by Eddie Howe.

In comments reported by VG, King suggested that he was definitely not happy with his new role this past season that has seen him deployed slightly deeper in the Cherries’ side.

The comments may well alert Benitez and they have certainly caught the attention of some of the Newcastle fans who are aware that the club have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old.

However, there appears to be a mixed response to the idea of the Magpies offering King an escape route this summer. Some of the supporters are clearly fans of King and feel that he would improve an attack that was fairly underwhelming at times this past season.

Others however, are not excited at all at the prospect of signing King this summer and feel that he has not earned the right to be unhappy with how he is being used at Bournemouth given that his form over the last couple of years appears to have come out of nowhere.

Here is the best of the reaction…
