Jonjo Shelvey is considered an integral member of Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle side.

Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has suffered a knee injury during Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium – and Toon fans are devastated at the potential hammer blow.
Shelvey, 26, featured for the entire 90 minutes and remained on the pitch until the end but the Toon confirmed on their official website on Tuesday that the former Liverpool and Swansea City ace had indeed suffered a knee problem.
The brief report indicates that the club are currently unaware as to how long Shelvey will remain on the sidelines at St. James’ Park, as Rafa Benitez looks for his best players to help fight against relegation.
Shelvey has been one of the Toon’s most integral members in their fight, recently picking up his level of performance and even being considered for a potential place in England’s World Cup side ahead of this summer’s World Cup.
Further scans are set to take place later this week after Shelvey suffered the injury when colliding with new goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, but fans are already fearing the worst.
One fan stated he was “going to cry”, while a number of fans believe it could be a blessing in disguise.
