Former Newcastle midfielder Barton has taken over at Fleetwood Town.

New Fleetwood Town manager Joey Barton has commented on facing Sunderland in League One after the Black Cats were relegated to the third tier of English football – and Newcastle United fans have reacted on Twitter.
The 35-year-old has taken his first steps into football management after replacing John Sheridan at Fleetwood, taking over just a day after his ban for breaching betting rules ended.

The former Newcastle midfielder – renowned for his controversial comments – has seemingly hung up his boots to become a manager, after a spell with Premier League side Burnley was cut short due to his ban from football.
Barton has not forgotten The Toon’s rivalry with Sunderland and was quoted by The Trawlermen’s official Twitter account as saying: “I’m looking forward to as a former Newcastle player to test my tactical wits against the might of Sunderland.”
Newcastle fans reacted to his comments in hilarious fashion, who left Newcastle back in 2011 after a four-year spell with the club that saw him clock up 84 appearances in all competitions for The Magpies.
One fan responded to Barton’s comments about Sunderland, posting: “Fleetwood get a follow now just coz of Joey, love him.”
