Newcastle are expected to be busy this summer, with Mesa reportedly linked.

Newcastle United are reportedly battling Premier League newcomers Fulham and La Liga giants Villarreal for the signature of Roque Mesa, who is said to be closing in on a permanent move to Sevilla – but Toon fans are not so sure.
Spanish outlet Sevilla ABC claim Newcastle are interested in the midfielder, with Mesa’s agent – the same agent as Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic – confirming that he had received offers for the 29-year-old.

Mesa remains a Swansea City player, despite only managing to complete 11 Premier League appearances before being shipped out on loan in the January transfer window to Sevilla.
He joined the Swans last summer for £11million (The Sun) but failed to make an impact. He has a contract at the Liberty Stadium until the summer of 2021, but following Swansea’s relegation, he is unlikely to stay.

The Toon are expected to offload Jack Colback and Henri Saivet this summer, while Mikel Merino’s future continues to be clouded with doubt after a frustrating second half to the season.
Newcastle fans are desperate for their club to bring some players in with owner Mike Ashley continually frustrating Rafa Benitez on a transfer front, but the supporters believe Benitez should avoid Mesa.
One fan summed it up by posting: “Couldn’t get a game at a club that were relegated.”
