Newcastle have once again been linked with the Uruguayan.

Newcastle have reportedly opened talks to sign AC Milan star Diego Laxalt after missing out on the Uruguay international in the summer – and Toon fans are excited on Twitter.
Italian outlet CalcioMercato have reported that Newcastle have made contact with an agent prior to making a bid for the 25-year-old, who is struggling at the San Siro since his summer move from Genoa.
Newcastle were one of the interested parties in signing Laxalt in the summer after an excellent World Cup with Uruguay in Russia, but Milan beat The Toon to his signature. Now, they may have a second bite at the cherry.
Laxalt has managed just 428 minutes of Serie A action this season – less than five full games – as he struggles to break into the side despite being able to play left-back and on the left of midfield or attack.

The former Bologna man is renowned for his hard work and determination, but his versatility and defensive-minded approach to the game are also traits that make him appealing to a manager such as Rafa Benitez.
It remains to be seen what kind of budget the Spanish manager will be given by owner Mike Ashley this month, but a loan deal for Laxalt could certainly be on the cards. Newcastle fans reacted excitedly to the news Laxalt is a target.
