Summer signing Matt Ritchie has been awarded Newcastle United’s Player of the Month for August following an impressive start to his career on Tyneside.
Ritchie has been instrumental as the Magpies have rose up the Championship table with five straight league victories with many fans already hailing him as one of the signings of the season.

The former Bournemouth man didn’t come cheap however, as United shelled out £12m for the winger‘s services as he returns to the second tier following a year in the Premier League with the Cherries.
The 27-year-old opened his Newcastle account from the penalty spot during the 4-1 victory over Reading and his workrate and technical ability have made him a key member of the starting 11.

Ritchie has also played a big part in United’s sudden set-piece threat as the side have scored 10 of their 16 league goals following deadball situations with the Scottish international playing a role in half of them.
And understandably Geordie fans are delighted with the impact their new signing has already made as they took to Twitter to sing his praises.
